Some people claim they work better under pressure. In athletics we admire the individual who can sink a free-throw, make a putt or hit a receiver under pressure. The soldier or first responder who keeps their cool under pressure is often regarded as a hero.
One commercial reminds us that “life comes at you fast.” That is so true for each of us. God knew that would be the case and so he reminded us that when we face pressured situations in our journey of faith that we need to be aware that God uses the pressure to help us to develop and grow. As you reflect on 2008 how did you do at handling the pressure? As we embark on 2009 may we learn from God’s Word and the example of others around us how to hold on to our faith under the seemingly unrelenting pressure of our life circumstances.

Hint: The key will be to learn to ask God for help and believe that he will give it at the exact moment we need it most.
