What is it about Easter Sunday that makes it special? Isn’t it just another Sunday? Another day on the calendar? If we are honest we have each had moments when we wondered what difference Easter really makes. Face it tomorrow is Monday and another typical week begins. Skeptics want us to believe that Jesus really never rose from the dead. But if that is the case, then we have no real hope. We have no assurance of life after death and that means we will not stand before the Creator of the Universe and we will not give account for our lives. So all we have is right now. This is it. This is the best it will get. One writer has referred to life without the reality of Christ, as a “Whatever” existence, in that no matter what we face the best response is, “Whatever.” There is a profound emptiness to life without the reality of Jesus. In our most honest moments we all struggle to fill a certain void in our lives. But when the reality of relationship with Jesus fills the hole in my heart there is, forgiveness, hope, security, acceptance, love, significance and purpose. Only a risen, alive Jesus Christ can give us that reality.
